About this game

🕯️ LAST FLAME THE DARK REMEMBERS A first-person pixel horror game about darkness, sound, and keeping one tiny flame alive. Mara descended beneath the abbey. She never returned. Only her candle did. Now you must carry that flame through ten cursed chapters beneath the earth, uncover what happened to Mara, and survive whatever learned to live in the darkness. But your candle is not infinite. And the dark is listening. 🕯️ KEEP THE FLAME ALIVE Your candle is your light. Your protection. Your time limit. Wax constantly burns away while you explore. Running, water, ash and other hazards make it disappear even faster. Find wax. Light ancient fires. Shelter your flame from drafts. And decide when spending precious wax is worth surviving another few seconds. If the flame dies... you are no longer alone in the dark. 👁️ THE DARK REACTS TO YOU LAST FLAME isn't just about things chasing you. Creatures react to light, movement and sound. Some retreat from your candle. Others listen for your footsteps. Rats may suddenly flee before something larger arrives. Tiny spiders descend from ceiling nests and begin crawling across the dungeon. Silhouettes move at the edge of your vision. Faces briefly appear in the water. And sometimes... a distant bell rings somewhere far below. There may be no reason to follow it. 🔔 TEN CHAPTERS Explore ten different areas beneath the abbey: 01 — The Vigil Learn how to survive and awaken the first fires. 02 — The Cistern Dark flooded corridors where every step through water costs precious wax. 03 — The Hunger Hall Listen carefully. The hounds usually growl before they leap. 04 — The Ashen House Watch the Watchers and stay away from the cold ash. 05 — The False Sister Something down here knows Mara's face. 06 — The Silent Bell Descend beneath the old tower. 07 — The Wailing Foundry Cross burning iron grates when their glow finally fades. 08 — The Faceless Choir Ancient fires must be awakened in the correct order. 09 — The Drowned Garden Find the lost golden bell heart. 10 — The Heart of Dawn Complete the ritual. Ring the bell. And run. 🕯️ YOUR CANDLE IS PHYSICAL The candle doesn't simply have a health bar. You can actually watch it: 🔥 melt 🔥 drip 🔥 shrink 🔥 flicker in drafts 🔥 and grow again when you recover wax Hold R to shield the flame with your hand. You'll move slower and your light becomes weaker... but sometimes that's the only thing keeping it alive. If a gust extinguishes the flame, you only have a few seconds to protect the remaining ember and relight it. 👹 SOMETHING IS ALWAYS MOVING Each chapter can contain hundreds of small spiders and rats, creating a constantly moving dungeon around you. Most are harmless. The other things aren't. Face creatures including: Crawler Watcher Hunger Mask Blind Hound Waxleech False Mara Bell Warden Shadowspider Bone Runner Screamer Night Bat Twin Face The Lantern Hunter The Lantern Hunter doesn't simply walk toward you. It hunts the last place it heard you. Stop moving. Hide your flame. And maybe it will search somewhere else. Maybe. 🕸️ BURN A PATH THROUGH THE DARK Huge webs block parts of the dungeon. You can slowly push through them... or sacrifice wax to burn them away. But burning a web makes noise. And ceiling nests nearby might notice. Every shortcut has a cost. 🚪 SECRET ROOMS Every chapter contains hidden chambers. Follow: cracks in the walls strange drafts subtle environmental clues Mara's markings Some doors hide supplies. Some contain memories. Some contain voices pretending to be someone you know. A chalk crescent may mean safety. Deep scratches may mean something else. 📖 FIND MARA'S MEMORIES Hidden throughout the game are Mara's notes. Each one reveals another fragment of what happened beneath the abbey. Recover enough memories and your final journey may end very differently. There are multiple endings, determined by what you discover... and the choices you make along the way. 🩸 THREE ENDINGS Not every escape is the same. Your recovered memories and certain decisions change the final outcome. You may leave: ALONE. FOLLOWED. or... perhaps not alone at all. 🔥 ALTARS & PERMANENT BLESSINGS Hidden offering altars allow you to sacrifice precious wax for permanent upgrades. Choose carefully: 🔥 EMBER Stronger light bursts. 👣 FOOTFALL Quieter movement. 🕯️ PATIENT FLAME Your candle burns 25% slower. Blessings remain with you through later chapters. But wax spent at an altar might have saved your life somewhere else. 🔥 FIRE CHECKPOINTS Ancient fires aren't just safe zones. Lighting one: restores wax restores health pushes creatures away saves your progress records opened rooms and discoveries Deep in the dungeon, seeing a fire in the distance can feel like seeing sunrise. 🔔 USE SOUND AGAINST THEM Bells can lure creatures away from your path. But not everything follows the sound. And ringing one tells the dungeon exactly where you are. Especially during the final ritual. 🌅 THE FINAL ESCAPE Light the five fires. Return to the central bell. Ring it. Then... RUN NORTH. One by one, the fires behind you begin to die. The dungeon awakens. The hunt begins. Reach the seal before the last flame disappears. 🎧 HEADPHONES RECOMMENDED LAST FLAME uses directional and synthesized audio to build tension: distant detuned bells footsteps scraping knocks whispering voices creature movement spider scuttling screams environmental echoes Long periods of silence are intentional. Sometimes nothing happens. Sometimes that's worse.
